- How does the goose
fence keep the geese away?
- There are really
two things that keep the geese away with a properly situated goose
fence. The first, and most obvious, is the physical barrier. Geese can
not get through the fence, so if the fence blocks the access from the
water, it prevents them from coming onto your property. In addition
however, geese do not feel comfortable any place that they can not run
back to the water, so if the fence is an obvious barrier between them
and the water, they will not feel comfortable on your property even
though they could fly over the fence.
- What about other
wildlife?
- The goose fence is
designed with a small opening at the bottom to allow small water front
creates like frogs and salamanders to access the water.
- How do I install the
goose fence?
- The goose fence
requires no permanent installation. Unlike other fencing products, you
do not have to install any fence posts or post holders. Simply unroll
the fence, screw the uprights into the bases, and place the fence along
the water line.
- Where should I install
the goose fence?
- The goose fence
should be installed along the water line as close to the water as
possible, but far enough away to account for normal changes in water
level. Typically 6 to 12 inches form the water. The fence should block
as much of the shore as possible and should curve back away from the
shore at the ends. This is to create an area where geese will not feel
comfortable because they do not have easy access to the water. [PICTURE]
- Is the goose fence
dangerous for geese?
- No, the goose fence
is mostly a psychological barrier for the geese. They will not go near
it and therefore will not get caught.
- What if I want to use
the waterfront?
- That is one of the
significant advantages of the goose fence. It can be very easily moved
out of the way and has no permanent structures. Even a child can easily
move the goose fence away. Simply pick up the supports and move them to
the side. Then, when you are done using the water just put the fence
back.
- What is I live in an
area with very strong winds?
- The goose fence is
designed to withstand normal lakefront winds. If you live in an area
with very strong winds, you can fill the support bases with water or
sand to add weight. Simply unscrew the uprights and pour water or sand
into the bases. Then screw in the uprights back in. This will add
weight to the supports to help them withstand stronger winds. Obviously
if a hurricane or other sever weather is expected, you should bring the
fence indoors to avoid damage to the fence. [PICTURE]
